Triennale Milano presents a fresh look at arte povera, with 250 works by the greatest artists

Triennale Milano presents until September 3, 2023 an exhibition that aims to take a fresh look at arte povera, inviting visitors to "turn their eyes inside out" through a novel reading of the art movement.

Until September 3, 2023 Triennale Milano hosts the exhibition Reversing the Eye. Photography, Film and Video in the Years of Arte Povera, curated by Quentin Bajac, Director of Jeu de Paume, Diane Dufour, Director of LE BAL, Giuliano Sergio, independent curator, and Lorenza Bravetta, curator for photography, film and new media at Triennale Milano.

The exhibition aims to present a fresh look at arte povera, rarely associated with photographic and filmic media, inviting visitors to “turn their eyes inside out” through a novel reading of the art movement, and placing it in the social and political context of the 1960s and 1970s in Italy.

The exhibition is the result ofextensive research in artists’ studios and private and public collections, and presents two hundred and fifty works created by forty-nine artists. The aim is to reveal the richness of a period in which Italian artists were among the most important interpreters of the transformation of visual languages. On display are works by Michelangelo Pistoletto, Giuseppe Penone, Giulio Paolini and photographs by Elisabetta Catalano, Mario Cresci, Luigi Ghirri, Mimmo Jodice and Ugo Mulas.

The exhibition is in collaboration with Jeu de Paume and LE BAL, Paris.
