Through Feb. 9, 2025 Casa Robegan in Treviso hosts Terra Incantata, a new exhibition by Jeff Robb organized by Cris Contini Contemporary gallery in collaboration with the City of Treviso and the Civic Museums, with the support of Banca Prealpi San Biagio and Fondazione Mazzotti. Under the artistic direction of Richard Mauger, the exhibition conceived by Sandra Sanson and curated by Pasquale Lettieri offers a multi-sensory art experience that interweaves art and history, combining past and present.
Jeff Robb leads the audience into a visionary and poetic universe, populated by three-dimensional works that play with the boundary between reality and illusion. Using a wide variety of techniques, the artist creates a path that explores the many facets of the city of Treviso. The exhibition includes still lifes made with lenticular photography, immersive projections, and soundscapes that evoke the unique atmosphere of Treviso Urbs Picta.
At the entrance, two large lenticular images depicting the encounter between contemporary youth and the charm of Treviso’s historic architecture welcome visitors. The tour continues with an installation inspired by the art of frescoes: suspended pyramidal structures, lit from within, project ornamental motifs typical of Treviso, transforming the walls into living canvases. Another room, called Metaphysical Windows, is dedicated to three-dimensional still lifes made with giclée prints and lenticular photography: they depict symbolic elements of Treviso tradition, such as radicchio and grapes, harmoniously blending tradition and contemporaneity. The importance of water in Treviso’s history is paid tribute through an animated installation: a waterfall projected onto a moving fabric accompanied by the sounds of water. The last part of the tour presents lenticular images that combine digital art and realistic photography, interweaving Treviso’s historic architecture with the energy of youth. The exhibition concludes with a short film that explores Jeff Robb’s creativity and his connection to the city, telling how his personal experiences in Treviso influenced his artistic process.
“With Terra Incantata, I have tried to explore the essence of Treviso, a city where history and modernity coexist in harmony. Through my works, I try to capture this duality, interweaving the charm of the past with the vibrant energy of the pr esent. Each work is an invitation to see the city from a new perspective, where tradition and innovation meet in a timeless dialogue,” said Jeff Robb.
“We are thrilled to con solidate our relationship with the City of Treviso, which sees us present for the third consecutive year with a unique exhibition,” said London-based gallery founders Cristian Contini and Fulvio Granocchia. “With Terra Incantata, Jeff Robb combines tradition and innovation, fusing the city’s historical heritage with its contemporary vitality in an extraordinary way.”
