The Luigi Bailo Museum in Treviso pays tribute to Gino Rossi.

The exhibition, curated by Marco Goldin, is in conjunction with the major exhibition dedicated to Rodin.

A “rare” artist, whose production is concentrated in 130 paintings, who carried out his artistic activity in the early 20th century inspired by Gauguin and the Fauves.

The Venetian Gino Rossi followed Gauguin’s example and moved to Brittany in 1909, where he produced works marked by a strong temperament and vibrant personal interpretations.

In his second phase of activity he approached the art of Cézanne, especially for still lifes, asserting that a painting is not built with color but with form, and that an art where color commands is an incomplete art.

Visitors will learn through this exhibition about the entire artistic activity of Gino Rossi, a painter who due to war, imprisonment and family events fell into mental illness, ending his days in the Sant’Artemio Asylum in Treviso.

Eighteen paintings by the artist are on display at the Luigi Bailo Museum until June 3.
