The Reggia di Venaria brings to the stage a challenge to the Baroque through modernity

From March 13 to June 14, 2020, the Reggia di Venaria, at the Citroniera of the Scuderie Juvarriane, will host the exhibition Sfida al Barocco. Rome Turin Paris 1680 - 1750.

A challenge to the Baroque launched by artists with modernity and experimentation with new forms and new languages elaborated between 1680 and 1750; the field of renewal of the arts developed between Rome, Turin and Paris.

This is testified by more than two hundred masterpieces, from the most important museums and collections around the world, exhibited on this occasion.

Rome is confirmed as the repository of the greatness of antiquity and the inventions of the masters of the Renaissance and Baroque; Paris seeks references in the painting of everyday life of the Flemish and Dutch masters to affirm new lifestyles and taste; Turin is confirmed, thanks to Filippo Juvarra, as the workshop of the modern city, offering a gallery of painters from the Schools of Italy.

Ancient fables are depicted in history paintings, sacred tales in altarpieces, seduction and grace in sculptures and paintings, planning in architectural models and refinement in furnishings and ornaments; all in an exhibition itinerary under the banner of the search for a modern identity.

The exhibition is curated by Giuseppe Dardanello and Michela di Macco; it is a project of the 1563 Foundation for Art and Culture realized thanks to the Compagnia di San Paolo. General organization is by the Consortium of Royal Residences of Savoy.

Tickets: Full 14 euros, reduced 12 for groups of minimum 12 people and for over 65, reduced 8 euros for under 21 and university students under 26. Free for under 6 years old.
