The poet and the magician: MAXXI in Rome dedicates an exhibition to Enzo Cucchi

Entitled "The Poet and the Magician," the exhibition that MAXXI in Rome is dedicating to one of the protagonists of the Transavanguardia movement, Enzo Cucchi. It runs from May 17 to September 24, 2023.

MAXXI in Rome presents an exhibition dedicated to Enzo Cucchi, one of the Transavanguardia artists, entitled The Poet and the Magician, scheduled from May 17 to Sept. 24. Enzo Cucchi is one of the most prolific and innovative artists on the contemporary scene, a free thinker and countercurrent. His research is rooted in the written word and flourishes in a myriad of different signs, symbols and expressive languages. Like an alchemist he bewitches and shapes matter, like a storyteller he evokes stories, myths and places far away in time.

The more than two hundred works in the exhibition mark an undulating path full of surprises, a tale by scattered pages that refuses all chronological linearity and returns a creativity in perpetual motion. Scattered everywhere, like traces in the gallery, monumental works, drawings, small bronzes, ceramics, graphics and artist’s books continually intercept the visitor’s gaze.
