Alberto Pasini will be featured in the next exhibition to be held at the Magnani-Rocca Foundation.

"Pasini and the Orient. Lights and colors of distant lands": this is the next exhibition to be hosted at the Magnani-Rocca Foundation in Mamiano di Traversetolo (Parma).

From March 17 to July 1, 2018, more than one hundred works including paintings and graphic works by Alberto Pasini (Busseto 1826 - Cavoretto 1899), one of the most refined interpreters of that new current influenced by a fascination for the Orient, for boundless landscapes and odalisques, for distant lands and exotic wonders, will be on display.

His art was not limited to showing Western audiences a simple image of the Orient, but intended to create new images, dialoguing with another culture and presenting customs, habits and atmospheres.

Visitors will also discover paintings, drawings and lithographs by the artist made during his diplomatic mission in 1855: having recently arrived in Paris, he was called to participate in the French mission charged with coming to terms with the Shah of Persia to remove him from Russian influence.
The exhibition will continue with the section of works completed in Istanbul, in which he depicts market scenes, as well as a large view of the Yeni Djami Mosque.
On display for the first time to the public are large canvases from international museums, such as"Pastures on the Road from Tehran to Tabriz,""Memories of the Environs of Tripoli," and"A Marché in Constantinople."

The exhibition is curated by Paolo Serafini and Stefano Roffi.
