Trento ’s Palazzo delle Albere presents the exhibition Tullio Garbari from December 21, 2019 to February 23, 2020. Primitivism and Modernity.
Tullio Garbari (Pergine Valsugana, 1892 - Paris, 1931) was an artist and poet who confronted the exponents of theItalian avant-garde, inserting himself in the cultural debate of the 20th century; his painting is characterized by simple forms, interpreting values deeply rooted in the Trentino territory. His works are an expression of an educated primitivism based on the study of the past.
The exhibition will feature a selection of Garbari’s works from provincial collections and housed in museum collections.
A number of videos included in the exhibition, made with documentary materials from the Photographic and Media Archive, will also illustrate the exhibition history of the Mart, which rediscovers some of the spaces where the museum’s collections and exhibitions have been housed.
The exhibition is presented by the Mart in Rovereto.
