The Klimt Experience, the multimedia show of the works of Gustav Klimt (Vienna, 1862 - Neubau, 1918) that has already attracted significant visitor numbers at other venues (the last of which was the former church of Santo Stefano al Ponte in Florence), is also coming to the Reggia di Caserta. The event opened its doors yesterday, June 7, and will run until October 31, 2017. Intent of the event, produced by Crossmedia Group with the organization of GestShow, is simply to present to the public “the life, figures and landscapes of Klimt” through an immersive digital enjoyment of his art.
“Klimt Experience,” the presentation reads, “thanks to the immersive soundtrack, the exceptional visual impact of the images reproduced in higher definition than Full Hd by the Matrix X-Dimension system, the extraordinary evocative power of the 700 selected works and the 3-D reconstructions of early 20th century Vienna, as well as to the didactic contribution of the exhibition’s introduction area - set up with physical scenic supports and Oculus Samsung Gear VR - offers the visitor a total, seamless immersion in a symbolic, enigmatic and sensual world where the triumph of an art without boundaries is realized.” For the Royal Palace of Caserta, this is an entirely new experiment that is part of the project to bring the monument back to the attention of the public throughout Italy and to bring art closer to even those visitors who visit museums infrequently.
The show runs daily, except Tuesdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (ticket office closes at 6:30 p.m.). The full ticket costs 10 euros, 7 euros the reduced price for concessionaires, 8 euros for students, over 65s, disabled (the accompanying person, however, gets in free), 6 euros reduced for students of the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” and for children from 6 to 12 years old, free for children under six. Groups (minimum 10 people) pay 8 euros (6 euros school groups). Info on the event’s official website.
