From today, April 14, to October 1, 2017,art from the first half of the 20th century will be featured in the exhibition"Stanze d’artista. Masterpieces of the Italian 1900s" at the Gallery of Modern Art in Rome.
The uniqueness of this exhibition lies in the fact that the paintings and sculptures of the artists are introduced by the words of the artists themselves, taken from their diaries, letters and theoretical or critical writings.
Mario Sironi, Arturo Martini, Ferruccio Ferrazzi, Giorgio De Chirico, Alberto Savinio, Carlo Carrà, Ardengo Soffici, Ottone Rosai, Massimo Campigli, Marino Marini, Fausto Pirandello and Scipione: twelve artists belonging to the early twentieth century in Italy, to each of whom a “room” is dedicated, for a total of about sixty works; among the paintings on display are The Brides of Sailors by Massimo Campigli, Paese by Ottone Rosai, Fields and Hills by Ardengo Soffici, La Diavoleria by Ferruccio Ferrazzi, and Cardinal Dean by Scipione.
The exhibition is curated by Maria Catalano and Federica Pirani, who said they wanted to offer the public an unconventional exhibition, a double reading to illustrate the genius of those artists.
The catalog is published by Silvana Editoriale.
