Stories is the title of the photographic exhibition by the duo J&PEG (Antonio Maganò and Simone Zecubi) that will be staged from April 20 to May 11, 2019 in Naples, at Castel dell’Ovo.
The duo’s solo exhibition will feature six medium-format works created in the last year and more than 20 large-format works that trace the last ten years of the two Milanese artists’ careers: from the beginnings of their first solo exhibition curated by Achille Bonito Oliva entitled Working Mates organized by Galleria Poggiali, to the present.
Starting from the hall on the second floor, visitors will be greeted by a series of works from 2010 characterized by subjects portrayed in dreamlike scenarios and surreal settings; these were created with a particular technique that combines photographic shots and pictorial interventions.
More recent works, created between 2013 and 2018/2019, will be on view on the second floor of the castle. The exhibition will close with a cycle of color works, completed between last year and this year, which aims to reveal some behavioral nuances of contemporary society through photographic portraiture. Six subjects wear a mask to tell what they are not, what they would like to be or what society forces them to become.
The exhibition is curated by Marina Guida and is organized by Galleria Poggiali of Florence in collaboration with theDepartment of Culture and Tourism of the City of Naples.
