Spanish artist Ignacio Goitia is on display with his universe at Rome's Instituto Cervantes

TheInstituto Cervantes in Rome opens its doors to the exhibition The Universe of Ignacio Goitia, which will be on view free of charge from May 27 to June 27.

This exhibition traces the different phases of the pictorial production of artist Ignacio Goitia (Bilbao, 1968). The scenographic aspect of the installation, curated by the artist himself, will help to better understand his universe beyond the paintings. The division of the space into rooms separated by “boiserie”-like painted sheets will take the viewer into a world where reality and fantasy coexist naturally. In this way, the “showcase” overlooking Piazza Navona will be occupied by the structure of a three-dimensional painting in which the viewer can be part of the painting, just as within the exhibition he or she can be part of the painter’s universe.

To visit the exhibition, it is necessary to make a reservation by writing an e-mail to be sent to pnavona@cervantes.es. To ensure the safety of visitors, access to the exhibition is allowed only to people with a properly positioned mask, while disinfectant gel or gloves will be provided at the entrance. In observance of physical spacing, a maximum of 4 visitors are allowed to enter at a time.
