Spanish art of the 1950s and 1960s on display at Rome's Instituto Cervantes


Spanish art from the 1950s and 1960s will be on display at the Instituto Cervantes in Rome from September 26, 2018 to January 12, 2019.

At the Sala Dalí of theInstituto Cervantes in Rome, the group show"La poética entre abstracción y figuración" will be open to the public from Sept. 26, 2018 to Jan. 12, 2019, for the first time in Italy.

The exhibition dedicated toSpanish art of the 1950s and 1960s will include works by eighteen artists, including Antonio López, Amalia Avia, María Moreno, Manuel Millares, Juana Francés, Antonio Saura, Rafael Canogar, Manuel Rivera and Martín Chirino, for a total of 34 masterpieces.



Paintings, reliefs, sculptures and drawings will be presented to give an understanding of the Spanish abstraction and figuration of that era. In particular, works by members of the two most representative modern art movements of those years are exhibited:"El Paso," which experimented with informal art, and"Realistas de Madrid," oriented toward figurative art.
