The spaces on the second floor of the Rooms of the Arts at the Reggia di Venaria will host from September 28, 2023 to January 28, 2024 the major exhibition Sovereigns at the Table. Lunches set in the Italian Courts, strongly desired by the Consortium’s Director General Guido Curto, and curated by Andrea Merlotti, historian and director of the Study Center of the Consortium of the Royal Residences of Savoy, together with art historians Silvia Ghisotti and Clara Goria, Chief Conservator Emeritus and Conservator of the Reggia di Venaria, respectively.
The exhibition concludes the year 2023 dedicated to the theme of food: more than two hundred objects including paintings, table furnishings, porcelain and silver services from the main Italian courts will be on display. The aim is to recount, thanks to extensive and unpublished research, the royal tables in their symbolic representation and daily practices that have maintained influences to the present day.
The exhibition itinerary, made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Quirinale, the Royal Palaces of Capodimonte and Caserta, the Royal Palace of Milan, the Pitti Palace, the Royal Palace of Naples and many other Italian and European museums, aims to be a stimulating journey through customs and “flavors” represented in different eras, according to different dynastic traditions.
