From October 28 to December 12, 2021 Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi presents Alter Eva. Nature Power Body. Six Italian artists (Camilla Alberti, Irene Coppola, Martina Melilli, Margherita Moscardini, Silvia Rosi and Marta Roberti) use their works to introduce a reflection on the future founded on new principles of natural and social cohabitation, starting from the female point of view.Between sculpture, painting, photography and installation, the exhibition proposes a multifaceted narrative where deconstructed or imaginative nature sits alongside exhibited or narrated bodies, but also where strong political statements dialogue with intimate and personal stories of cultural belonging. The common element is a commitment aimed at change for a transformation of the way we observe, speak and act in the world. By questioning patriarchy, gender roles, the antagonism between nature and human beings, restrictive roles and power relations, the exhibition aims to build alternative futures by proposing forms of relationships that are still being negotiated.
The project is part of Palazzo Strozzi Future Art, the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi’s new program, inaugurated with JR’s installation on the facade of Palazzo Strozzi, born from a collaboration with Andy Bianchedi in memory of Hillary Merkus Recordati. The exhibition is realized by the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi with the collaboration of the 2020/2021 class of the Master Curatorial Practice at IED Florence (Francesca Bonissone, Elena Castiglioni, Nora Criado Diaz, Linda Kristiina Toivio, Thea Moussa, Yanru Li), and coordinated by Martino Margheri (Head of University and Academy Projects Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi) and Daria Filardo (lecturer and coordinator of the Master IED Florence).
Alter Eva. Nature Power Body is promoted and organized by Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi with the collaboration of IED Florence.
