Palazzo Bentivoglio in Bologna will host from January 21 to April 19, 2020 the solo exhibition of Sissi (Bologna, 1977), entitled Vestimenti.
Visitors will be able to admire a wide selection of dress-sculptures made by the artist: the latter has dedicated herself throughout her artistic activity to the creation of clothes, sometimes wearable, using the most varied materials. The dresses are real sculptures that Sissi introduces in installations or performances, as in her first work Daniela ha perso il treno (1999).
The exhibition will reconstruct twenty years of her career through her works and there will be an opportunity to explore the fundamental themes of her production.
The sculptures will be presented as part of a large site-specific installation project, and a performance will be held in which the artist will dialogue with the audience, emphasizing how these works are related to everyday life. The performance is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 26, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. (free admission subject to availability).
Sissi emerged in the late 1990s, when she was still attending the Academy of Fine Arts. Her art immediately ranged from performances to sculptures, videos to photographs, drawings to paintings, often mixing languages. A central theme in his production is the body, of the artist and beyond, often declined in its ways of living and inhabiting the world, or in the individual elements that make up the human anatomy.
The exhibition is curated by Antonio Grulli. The event is one of the main projects of ART CITY Bologna 2020.
During ART CITY Bologna, it will be possible to visit the exhibition on Jan. 21, 22 and 23 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Jan. 24 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Jan. 25 from 10 a.m. to midnight.
From Jan. 31 to March 15: Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m. From March 20 to April 19 by appointment only.
Free admission.
