In Rome, the Musia exhibition space is showcasing "From Symbolism to Abstraction. The early 20th century in Rome in the Jacorossi Collection, " curated by Enrico Crispolti in collaboration with Giulia Tulino.Inaugurated last December and on display until Sept. 30, 2018, the kermesse presents about fifty works from the Jacorossi Collection articulated within the framework of a rigorous historical reconstruction of the vicissitudes of plastic arts in Rome in the first half of the 20th century to suggest the freedom of a “historical-critical drift” (of “situationist”) through differently significant works, by well-known authors (from Balla, Martini, to Cagli, Leoncillo, Afro) or rather unexpected ones (among Bargellini, Edita Broglio, Di Cocco, the Ferrazzis, Janni) to be developed within what the originally asystematic consistency of one of the most well-known and dynamic Roman collections of contemporary art offers.
Accompanying the exhibition project is the catalog, published by De Luca Editori d’Arte, which contains critical essays by Enrico Crispolti and Giulia Tulino, fact sheets of the works on display, a conversation by Ovidio Jacorossi with Paolo Di Paolo, an evocative text of Roman atmospheres by Marco Lodoli and a testimony by Giuseppe De Rita. Musia living(&)arts is located at 7/9 Via dei Chiavari. Opening hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 4 to 10:30 p.m. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
