Fragments. Photographs by Stefano Cigada is the upcoming exhibition at the Museo di Roma in Trastevere that, from January 22 to March 15, presents the work of Stefano Cigada, through the medium of photography, to investigate the statuary heritage of some great Museums.
His path differs from the research of other contemporary photographers and emphasizes certain details of ancient statues by highlighting their damaged parts, wounds still alive that can be likened to “living flesh.”
The combination of the two media, sculpture and photography, characterizes Cigada’s conceptual work, which in exalting fragments of statues through photographic fragments gives us back a refined and cultured inquiry into the ambivalence and incompleteness of existence itself.
The exhibition itinerary divided into three rooms presents about 20 images made with sophisticated printing techniques.
The project also includes an educational path dedicated to schools.
The exhibition is curated by Jill Silverman von Coenegrachts.
