Rome, Palazzo Merulana showcases the invisibles photographed by young Christian Tasso

From Dec. 4, 2021 to Jan. 16, 2022, Palazzo Merulana in Rome will host the exhibition 'Nobody Excluded,' featuring the works of young photographer Christian Tasso.

Landing for the first time in Rome, after gaining public and critical acclaim at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan and Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi in Venice, is Nessuno Escluso, the exhibition of photographs by young photographer Christian Tasso (Macerata, 1986), hosted at Palazzo Merulana from December 4, 2021 to January 16, 2022.

On display is a selection of the artist’s medium- and large-format photographs, made on film and developed manually in the darkroom, which investigate diversity with a gaze away from rhetoric and pietism. Christian Tasso’s photographs present a journey through fifteen countries of the world that is a journey of human relations and deep respect for the other, also documented in the book of the same name published by Contrasto in 2020, with a critical text by Alessandra Mauro and a reflection on diversity by writer Giuseppe Pontiggia. From this starting point, Christian Tasso’s art becomes a conscious tool for challenging precisely those stereotypes that affect people every day.

His intense black-and-white shots tell of the invisible around the world, stories and situations in which diversity is a great resource, totally integrated into the social context in which people live. To them from time to time Tasso wanted to leave the freedom to choose how to be portrayed, the self-representation of the photographed subjects thus becoming a collective performance.

Christian Tasso lives and works between Italy, Switzerland and New York. He collaborates with several international organizations such as ART for The World, developing through artistic practice projects on themes related to community, customs and rituals, the search for identity through and with others, interaction with nature and the relationship between memory and territory.Winner and finalist of numerous international awards, including the Aftermath project in Los Angeles, Premio Ponchielli in Italy and Ojo de Pez in Spain. He collaborates with numerous Italian and international periodicals.
