The Chiostro del Bramante hosts from September 8, 2020 to April 11, 2021 Bansky. A visual protest, all dedicated to the British artist and writer.
More than 100 works to narrate the world of British street artist Banksy. Within the 16th-century architecture of the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome, therefore, finds space for the popular “unknown” artist who has conquered the general public thanks to his works in which he addresses current issues.
From Love is in the Air to Girl with Balloon; from Queen Vic to Napalm; from Toxic Mary to HMV; from prints made for Barely Legal, one of the best-known exhibitions held, to record projects for vinyl and CD covers. The time span of the works covers a period from 2001 to 2017. All works come from private collections.
“Imagine a city,” Banksy says, “where graffiti was not illegal, a city where everyone could draw wherever they wanted. Where every street was flooded with myriad colors and short expressions. Where waiting standing for the bus at the bus stop was never boring. A city that gave the impression of a party open to everyone, not just real estate agents and business tycoons. Imagine such a city and get off the wall, the paint is fresh. It takes guts, and lots of them, to stand up as complete strangers in a Western democracy and call for things no one else believes in. Like peace, justice and freedom.”
With this new exhibition project DART - Chiostro del Bramante continues its commitment to telling the public about art through protagonists; after the success of Bacon, Freud, the School of London, realized thanks to the collaboration of Tate, now it is Banksy’s turn.
