The Museums of Villa Torlonia(Rome) opened the exhibition “The Prince’s Library. Artist’s Books,” which will be held from June 21 to September 30, 2018 at the Casina delle Civette. The aim of the exhibition is to recreate the library of Prince Giovanni Torlonia Junior (Rome, 1873 - 1938) with a path through 20 Artist’s Books, all of which can be browsed through; both the cover and the inside pages are handcrafted with drawings, writings, lace collages, buttons, ceramic fragments, wood, medals, coins, and books made by Vittorio Fava (Rome, 1948) over several years.
Vittorio Fava has for many years devoted himself to the artist’s book, a book that in the modern sense was born with Futurism, whose Manifesto was published by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti in 1909, the years of Prince Giovanni Torlonia.
Promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Crescita Culturale - Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali and conceived and realized by Cooperativa Sociale Apriti Sesamo, with the collaboration of RomExpo, the exhibition is curated by Stefania Severi and Maria Grazia Massafra.
