Until July 15, the ADA gallery in Rome hosts Fire Song, a solo exhibition by Francesca Banchelli (Montevarchi, 1981) in which the Tuscan artist exhibits works that formulate visions of the encounter in events suspended between passages and lightning, vacillating between the dreamlike and the real, through places outside of time. One is immersed in situations devoid of hierarchy, poised between apocalypse and a serene instant at sunset, in a moment where enchantment becomes a dream, but also a tangible experience. Much of the imagery of these works is based on song, seen as a form of primal, intelligible dialogue through which encounter is sought , a place where the parts are transformed to understand each other. The closeness that is created reconstitutes a unique moment of exchange, an Event, between living and non-living beings, between human beings and their surroundings, between singularity and collectivity, in a state dedicated to happening and understanding.
Francesca Banchelli combines an intimate perspective of the world with a collective one, bringing out the most hidden self and then letting it disappear within a collective self. The subjects of her works are imbued with a fibrillating and calm emotionality, united by a propensity to trace, over an indefinite span of time, remnants of innocence and intelligence.
Francesca Banchelli’s work investigates the concept of time through painting and performance, elaborating narratives in which constellations of events are arranged on a single plane. Her imaginaries include visions of coexistence between different living beings and natural objects, which hold time within them, or with inanimate objects, through which we trace back to ourselves.
Banchelli uses the concept of time as a means of finding balance in the encounter between the self and the world, staging a reconciliation between the individual, the collective and the natural world. For all information about the exhibition you can visit www.ada-project.it
