From tomorrow, Jan. 31, to April 8, 2018, Raphael’s Madonna Esterházy will be featured in an exhibition at the National Galleries of Ancient Art in Rome - Palazzo Barberini.
The painting comes from the Szépmuvészeti Múzeum in Budapest and represents a crucial moment in the Urbino painter’s art, as it marks the transition from the Florentine to the Roman period.
A large-format reproduction of the preparatory drawing preserved in the Uffizi Drawings and Prints Cabinet will be displayed alongside the work for comparison.
There will also be three other works similar in format and setting from the National Galleries.
The exhibition is curated by Cinzia Ammannato.
