Pontormo's Visitation stars in exhibition at New York's Morgan Library & Museum


An exhibition dedicated to Pontormo's Visitation has opened at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York.

The exhibition"Pontormo: Miraculous Encounters" opened at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York and can be visited until Jan. 6, 2019.

The exhibition revolves around the famous Visitation by Pontormo (1494 - 1557) created between 1528 and 1530 kept in the church of San Michele in Carmignano.
The spectacular work is flanked by its preparatory drawing and another of the artist’s masterpieces, the Portrait of a Young Man with a Red Cap.



The exhibition was made possible by an anonymous donation in memory of Melvin R. Seiden and the generous support of the couple Tomilson Hill and Lawrence R. Ricciardi.
