The story of Pompeii lands in the heart of Brussels, where it will be told in an international exhibition in one of the city’s iconic buildings, the Bourse. “Pompeii, the Immortal City” will be open from November 24, 2017 to April 15, 2018. The art project was curated by the Musée de l’Europe, in collaboration with Tempora and Italian partner Civita.
For the occasion, the Museo Galileo in Florence and the National Archaeological Museum in Naples have developed the scientific script of the exhibition itinerary, using all the means of current museology to make visitors relive the city of Pompeii, destroyed in 79 AD by the eruption of Vesuvius.
Through 3-D views, more than 100 objects from the excavations, the reconstruction of machinery from the period and the story of a Pompeii family, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the moment of the city’s destruction and then in that of the discovery of the inhabitants stranded under the ashes. Interactive paths, finally, for children.
