Polesella (Rovigo), Virgilio Guidi protagonist of an exhibition at Villa Morosini

Until September 24, 2023, the Sala degli Stucchi of Villa Morosini in Polesella (Rovigo) is hosting a small anthological exhibition dedicated to Virgilio Guidi, a great master of 20th-century Italian art.

From July 8 to Sept. 24, 2023, at the ground-floor and first-floor rooms, including the splendid Sala degli Stucchi at Villa Morosini, Polesella(Rovigo), there is space for Virgilio Guidi in the Villa of the Old Masters, a small anthological exhibition dedicated to a great master of twentieth-century Italian art, Virgilio Guidi (Rome, 1891 - Venice, 1984).

Beginning with the interiors, still lifes and landscapes of the 1910s and 1920s, the exhibition, curated by Giovanni Granzotto and Luciano Zerbinati, reconstructs Guidi’s entire artistic career, continuing with the Figures and the “new Venices” of the late 1920s and the 1930s and 1940s, documenting the magical period of Venetian Spatialism in the postwar period and concluding with the last, resounding Whites of the late 1970s. The works in the exhibition enter into dialogue with the paintings that make up the Villa’s sumptuous permanent collection, which includes valuable antique pieces - works by Bronzino, Tiepolo master Gregorio Lazzarini and a bust of Bernini - and contemporary ones, from the celebrated collection of Venice’s All’Angelo restaurant, a historic gathering place for the post-World War II avant-garde run by the Carrain family, including the famous triptych of the Angel by Santomaso, Vedova and Pizzinato.

Hours: Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Ticket price: €5. The ticket also gives access to the Villa.
