Original plates created for some of the best-known works by Manuele Fior, an illustrator who is now among the most appreciated on the international scene, are at the heart of the exhibition Manuele Fior. Journey in Color, curated by Giorgio Bacci, which opened at Palazzo Blu in Pisa on April 19, 2024. Manuele Fior (Cesena, 1975), endowed with a fine graphic sensibility and coloristic power that make him instantly recognizable, works for major Italian and international publishers, and his illustrations appear in Italian and foreign periodicals and newspapers.

He has won numerous prizes and awards, including the coveted Attilio Micheluzzi at Napoli Comicon in 2007, 2010 and 2023, Fauve d’Or at the Angoulême International Festival in 2010, and Gran Guinigi for Sole Author at Lucca Comics in 2010.

Before being a full-time comics and illustration author, Fior graduated in architecture from theIuav University in Venice, worked for some time as an architect and traveled the length and breadth of Europe (Oslo, Berlin, Paris) before returning to Venice, where he currently resides.

The dimension of travel, combined with that of an elusive melancholic nostalgia, is constitutive of the works of the author, who fully experienced the boom of the “Erasmus generation” of the 1990s.
