The success of the Rossini Opera Festival in the world is also due to a happy graphic intuition, the pop revival of Rossini ’s face in the posters created for the Rof by Massimo Dolcini, the master graphic designer who died in 2005.On the occasion of the Christmas festivities, Pesaro’s Bottega del Mondo, in collaboration with the City Council’s Department of Beauty, the Rossini Opera Festival, the “Massimo Dolcini” association and the “Bramante-Genga” Institute of Technology, will exhibit for the first time in Pesaro all the portraits of Rossini created by Dolcini for the festival.
It is a gallery of portraits that delivers the even humoral versatility of the Swan of Pesaro and that Dolcini was able to read with great irony. The exhibition will be inaugurated at Tuttounaltronatale ’s new headquarters on Via Cattaneo on Sunday, Nov. 26, and will remain open until mid-January 2018.
The invention of the Rossini Opera Festival brand, an added value for Pesaro’s most important cultural event, certainly came from the creativity of Massimo Dolcini, who had, among other things, close friendships and great mutual esteem with Rof’s first superintendent Gianfranco Mariotti.
The posters range from 1980 to 2005, all those signed by Dolcini as art director of the festival, but there are also others depicting Rossini on different celebratory occasions.
The material is part of the Museum of Graphic Art dedicated to Dolcini, housed in the premises of the “Bramante-Genga” Technological Institute and is an integral part of the museum circuit of the Municipality of Pesaro.
