The exhibition Children’s books on art, an international review of illustrated children’s books on art, architecture and design, is on view from October 6 to December 1, 2018, at the House Museum of Palazzo Sorbello in Perugia. The exhibition, curated by Claudia Pazzini, tells a story that just in recent years is experiencing its best moments: that of publishers around the world working to produce books dedicated to art aimed at an audience of children and young people. The Ranieri di Sorbello Foundation, in collaboration with the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the Giannino Stoppani Cooperative, has therefore identified themes and paths for the exhibition, where a selection of one hundred illustrated books from all over the world are on display, illustrating art, architecture, and design to young children.
And often they are not just books about works of art: they are themselves small works of art thanks to the drawings and ideas of authors and illustrators. During the exhibition, the books can be freely consulted by librarians, teachers, museum educators, and of course by families with their children visiting the exhibition, and in general by anyone interested in learning more about them. In addition, the exhibition is accompanied by a program of activities for families and children as part of Readings at Palazzo Sorbello, featuring storyteller and playwright Mirko Revoyera.
The exhibition opens Thursdays and Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Admission is free. Original project by Grazia Gotti and Silvana Sola (Cooperativa Giannino Stoppani), under the patronage of Umbria Region, European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 and Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Catalog published by Cooperativa Giannino Stoppani. For information you can visit the Palazzo Sorbello House Museum website, www.casamuseosorbello.org.
