From August 26 to October 2, 2022, Palazzo Merulana in Rome hosts the exhibition Cuore cosciente - Pier Paolo Pasolini raccontato nel Fumetto, curated by Stefano Piccoli and produced by ARF! Festival, in collaboration with CoopCulture, with the support of Regione Lazio, Progetto ABC, ATCL, La Città Incantata. The exhibition venue returns to comics after the success in 2021 of the Women in Comics exhibition.
Ananthological exhibition that will trace through comics the life and works of the great Italian poet, screenwriter, actor, director, writer, painter, novelist and playwright, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. More than eighty works by some of the most prestigious signatures of Italian comics, taken from four graphic novels that recounted Pier Paolo Pasolini according to different keys of interpretation.
On display will be original plates, cover illustrations, preparatory sketches, drawings and unpublished prints (granted exclusively) from the comic books Pasolini by Davide Toffolo, Pasolini 1964 by Giuseppe Palumbo, Pasolini’s Secret Diary by Elettra Stamboulis and Gianluca Costantini, and Il delitto Pasolini by Gianluca Maconi.
Visitors will also have a chance to see some short stories by Massimo Giacon and Danilo Maramotti and a series of illustrations and portraits by Milo Manara, Andrea Serio, Francesco Ripoli, Leila Mazzocchi and Alice Iuri. Texts for the entire exhibition will be curated by the pen of Elettra Stamboulis.
Also planned is a series of weekly appointments, every Thursday afternoon at Palazzo Merulana, featuring meetings with the authors in the exhibition.
