A great honor for the Palladio Museum in Vicenza: seven frescoes created by Giandomenico Tiepolo will be on public display for the first time and the exhibition"Secret Tiepolo," curated by Fabrizio Magani and Guido Beltramini, will be dedicated to them.
The frescoes have remained for over fifty years in the residences of the owners who saved them from destruction in World War II and are now destined for the Vicenza museum.
They were created two decades after the frescoes at Villa Valmarana ai Nani for the commissioner’s son Gaetano Valmarana, using the courtly language of Palladian architecture.
“We are proud to be able to contribute to the culture of our city,” say Camillo and Giovanni Franco, owners of the frescoes, "with a part of our family history. It was Fausto Franco, uncle of the owners and Monuments Superintendent, who oversaw the rescue of the family frescoes in 1945.
The seven frescoes will be displayed in the Sala delle Arti on the main floor of the Barbarano Palace, in continuity with the Palladio Museum’s exhibition rooms.
The exhibition will begin on November 3, 2017, and to mark the occasion, the Palladio Museum and Villa Valmarana ai Nani will offer a reciprocal reduction on admission tickets.
