The National Galleries of Ancient Art in Rome - Palazzo Barberini will host from October 20, 2017 to February 11, 2018 a major exhibition, for the first time in Rome, dedicated to Giuseppe Arcimboldi.
His most famous masterpieces, such as the Seasons, the Elements, the Librarian, theHortolan, the Cook, his portraits, and his watercolor drawings depicting merry-go-rounds and fountains will be on display.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to see Archboldesque copies, a number of objects from imperial wunderkammer and numismatic workshops, and drawings of herbaria, fruit, and animals, which were analyzed and studied extensively during that period.
The exhibition is curated by Sylvia Ferino Pagden and organized by the National Galleries of Ancient Art in Rome and MondoMostre Skira.
