Olafur Eliasson exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi closes with 163,000 visitors

It ended at Palazzo Strozzi Nel tuo tempo, the largest exhibition ever held in Italy dedicated to Olafur Eliasson. Curated by Arturo Galansino, the exhibition was the result of the artist’s direct work on the spaces of Palazzo Strozzi with historical installations and new productions, which subverted its perception, employing the building itself as a tool for creating art. The exhibition was visited in the four months it was open, from September to January, by 163,000 people.

This extraordinary result rewards the work of the Fondazione and its way of ’doing exhibitions,’ always seeking a dialogue with its audiences and stimulating a direct confrontation with our palace, a driving force of energy, creativity and value through art and culture.”

Analyses of the exhibition’s visitors show a strong return of the tourist public, which accounted for 38 percent of the total visitors (more than 60,000 admissions) and the excursionist public (from areas outside Florence and its province visiting the city on a day trip) amounting to about 65,000 visitors. The participation of the local public, residing in the metropolitan area of Florence, was also significant, accounting for 22 percent of total visitors, amounting to more than 35,000 people. There was great participation from the under-30 audience, accounting for 35 percent of the total visitors, and also from families amounting to more than 14,000 total attendance.

The exhibition was conceived by Studio Olafur Eliasson, and promoted and organized by Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi.
