From December 2, 2021 to January 9, 2022, Mudec in Milan will welcome TVBOY. The exhibition, dedicated to internationally known street artist Salvatore Benintende. For the first time, Mudec Photo is hosting in Milan a solo exhibition dedicated to him with the intention of showing the public the ironic, satirical and thoughtful eye with which TVBOY reinterprets the various trends followed by modern society through his urban art.
The exhibition, curated by Nicolas Ballario, produced in collaboration with Studio TVBOY and promoted by 24 ORE Cultura - Gruppo 24 ORE, presents the main themes addressed by the artist, such as love, power, heroes and art, through more than seventy canvases.
On the occasion of the exhibition that the Milanese museum dedicated from November 21, 2018 to April 14, 2019 to Banksy, TVBOY created an initial protest mural on the museum’s surrounding wall at 56 Tortona Street. The mural, which can still be seen today, depicts a hooded street artist, portrayed from behind, playing on the ambiguity Official/Un-official, referring to Banksy’s unofficial exhibition that took place inside the museum’s halls. From this episode, the museum writes on its official website, an interesting dialogue was born, with the Museo delle Culture and TVBOY working together on a project within the Tortona district.
The Municipality of Milan and Mudec had seized the opportunity by inviting TVBOY to replicate the work during a public performance at the museum, creating a series of works that were later sold, the proceeds of which went to fund the project “A Wall that Unites,” in collaboration with Municipio 6.
