From September 11, 2019 to February 2, 2020, Tate Britain in London will pay homage to William Blake, one of the most celebrated poets in English literature who was also a painter and printmaker. Indeed, Blake produced iconic images of British art during his lifetime, and the London exhibition will present visitors with more than three hundred original works, some rarely exhibited, including his drawings, watercolors, and etchings.
The exhibition has been heralded as the largest review devoted to William Blake’s artistic activity in the past two decades.
The exhibition will recreate the small home environment in which the great visionary poet presented his art in 1809, while another room will feature his works enlarged using digital technologies, particularly The Spiritual Form of Nelson Guiding Leviathan and The Spiritual Form of Pitt Guiding Behemoth, both from 1805 . The exhibition aims to bring audiences to rediscover Blake as a visionary artist of the 21st century.
