From Oct. 28, 2023 to Jan. 14, 2024, the Mastio della Cittadella in Turin will host the anthological exhibition Miró a Torino on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the Catalan artist’s death. Curated by Achille Bonito Oliva with the collaboration of Maïthé Vallès-Bled and Vincenzo Sanfo and produced by Navigare srl, the exhibition brings together about one hundred works including paintings, temperas, watercolors, drawings, sculptures and ceramics; many loans, shown to the public for the first time, come from private collections and French galleries. The nucleus of works featured covers a period of six decades of the celebrated artist’s production, from 1924 to 1981, with a focus on the transformation of pictorial languages developed by the artist in the 1920s and his artistic metamorphoses.
The exhibition is divided into seven thematic areas (Ceramics, Poetry, Lithographs, Painting, Derrière le Miroir, Posters, Music) and will be enriched with important photographic work by some of the most important photographers, including Man Ray, who often immortalized Miró in his shots, and with some previously unseen videos.
Hours: Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 1, Dec. 8, Dec. 26, Jan. 6, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 from 3 to 8:30 p.m.
