Milan traces 40 years of Hans Hartung's art in an anthological exhibition

Milan will host an anthological exhibition to Hans Hartung, one of the most significant protagonists of abstract art.

"Hans Hartung. Beyond abstraction": this is the title of theanthological exhibition dedicated to Hans Hartung to be held from November 23, 2018 to January 26, 2019 at the Dellupi Arte Gallery in Milan.

The exhibition, curated by Ilaria Porotto, showcases a selection of paintings on canvas and on paper to retrace about forty years of the artistic career of the German painter, one of the most significant protagonists of abstract art.

Starting with works from the 1950s, predominated by a sign language, the small anthological exhibition consisting of about fifteen masterpieces, continues with works from the 1960s and 1970s, in which the artist experimented with novel tools for scratching, digging and imprinting the surface, such as rollers, brushes, branches, garden rakes, the airbrush and compressors. The exhibition concludes with paintings from the 1980s, the most lyrical acrylics, where the marks and scratches are in complete almost poetic harmony.

Among the works on display is the 1963 vinyl on canvas T1963-K3 or 1965 T1965-E3.

The curator defines the artist as follows: “The richness of his production, the variety of technical solutions employed, combined with his desire for experimentation distinguish Hans Hartung as one of the most significant protagonists of abstract art; his painting - free from constraints and labels - characterized the art of the second half of the twentieth century, influencing generations of younger artists.”
