Michelangelo Pistoletto's art at the Ducal Palace in Mantua.

Until June 12, 2018, the Ducal Palace in Mantua is hosting an exhibition entirely dedicated to Michelangelo Pistoletto.

At the Ducal Palace in Mantua, in the spaces of theAppartamento della Rustica and the Cortile della Cavallerizza, Michelangelo Pistoletto’s exhibition"From Cittadellarte to the Civilization of Art" is on until June 12, 2018.

This presents visitors with the artistic activity of one of the most representative exponents of contemporary art.

More than sixty years of activity on display, starting from the first self-portraits, mirror paintings to the encounter with the outside world: a path that questions philosophical, spiritual, social, scientific concepts, in a dimension that recognizes in art the tool to give real forms to ethics aimed at the fulfillment of the work of humanization, human respect for diversity, and environmental protection.

Also present is the Third Paradise, which Pistoletto himself describes thus, “The Third Paradise is the fusion of the first and second paradises. The first is the one in which human beings were totally integrated into nature. The second is the artificial paradise, developed by human intelligence to the global dimensions reached today with science and technology. 1The Third Paradigm is the third stage of humanity, which is realized in the balanced connection between artifice and nature. The Third Paradise is the great myth that leads everyone to take personal responsibility in the global vision. The symbol of the Third Paradise, a reconfiguration of the mathematical sign of infinity, consists of three consecutive circles. The two outer circles represent all diversity and antinomies, including nature and artifice. The central one is the interpenetration between the opposite circles and represents the generative womb of the new humanity.”

Cittadellarte, founded in 1998 in a former textile mill in Biella with the aim of generating through art processes of responsible transformation in the different sectors of society, is a great laboratory, a generator of creative energy, represented today by hundreds of ambassadors who are committed to their territory.

The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Complesso Museale Palazzo Ducale in Mantua, Cittadellarte - Fondazione Pistoletto and Moz-Art (Contemporary Art), with critical curatorship by Peter Assmann, Fortunato D’Amico, Sergio Pajola and contributions by Renata Casarin, Marco Farano, Gianfranco Ferlisi, Antonio Mazzeri, Paolo Naldini and Giuliano Vallavi.

Open to the public Friday through Sunday, including holidays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tickets: 10 euros, reduced 5 euros for visitors in possession of a cumulative ticket for a visit to the Ducal Palace, young people under 25, university students of art-history and architecture faculties. Free for children.
