On the occasion of MAXXI ’s 10th anniversary, the museum is celebrating six years of The Independent, a research project dedicated to independent thought and practice.
The Independent Wall, running from February 16 to December 4, aims to present a retrospective view of the history of the program conceived by Hou Hanru and curated by Giulia Ferracci and Elena Motisi.
The project presents the online mapping of independent realities, monitoring the territories of initiatives active in this field nationally and internationally. Launched in 2014 through an open call, from 2019 the mapping is extended through the input of a series of contributors who propose each year a selection of the most innovative groups and spaces of the independent constellation.
The exhibition wall is configured as theindependentproject.it dedicated website, and through a graphic design, the wall becomes a navigable page that explores the different trajectories in which The Independent has articulated its action: About, Independents, The wall, Journal Garibaldi, Summit.
