Forty years after his death, MAXXI in Rome is dedicating a major retrospective to Gio Ponti (Milan, 1891 - 1979), from November 27, 2019 to April 13, 2020, entitled Amare l’architettura, which studies and communicates his multifaceted activity, starting precisely from the narrative of his architecture.
From the design of everyday objects to the invention of spatial solutions for the modern home, to the realization of complex projects dropped into the urban context, such as the Pirelli skyscraper in Milan or the cathedral in Taranto, Ponti’s design is characterized precisely by the casual shift from scale to scale.
Produced in collaboration with the CSAC in Parma and Gio Ponti Archives, the exhibition presents archival materials, models, photographs, books, magazines, and objects that allow us to discover an outstanding protagonist of Italian architectural production, whose work left important traces on several continents.
The exhibition opens from November 27, 2019 to April 13, 2020.
