MAXXI in Rome is showing Navin Rawanchaikul's "Hello from Rome," a recent acquisition, to the public for the first time: it is a work that transforms Rome into a large... Bollywood set.

It was supposed to close its doors this Sunday, but last fall’s dpcm twisted the plans and now it will open at MAXXI from March 10 to May 2.

We’re talking about Hello from Rome, Navin Rawanchaikul ’s work about the diaspora but also about integration and the cultural challenges the artist has taken on during his stay in Rome and Lazio in 2018.

An impressive oil on canvas that reinterprets the style of the Indian film industry poster, capturing the South Asian migrant community in its daily life in and around Rome.
