Opening today at the Fortress of Bard is the exhibition " Masterpieces of the National Academy of San Luca. From Raphael to Balla" in which 115 works from the precious collection of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, one of Italy’s oldest cultural institutions, will be on display.
The exhibition, which can be visited until Jan. 7, 2018, opens with a masterpiece by Raphael, a fresco depicting a putto, and continues with works by Bronzino, Giambologna, Palma il Giovane, Guido Reni, Guercino, Bernini, Rubens, van Dyck and many others, passing through Canova, Thorvaldsen and Hayez.
The final part of the exhibition features a Self-Portrait and Peasant by Giacomo Balla.
A journey from the 16th to the 20th century through magnificent masterpieces of art history.
This is the first time that so many works preserved at the Accademia di San Luca have left the Roman building.
The exhibition is curated by Vittorio Sgarbi, Francesco Moschini and Gabriele Accornero and is sponsored by theForte di Bard Association and theNational Academy of San Luca.
