Mark Wallinger's first Italian retrospective at Centro Pecci in Prato

Mark Wallinger Mark: this is the exhibition running until June 3, 2018 at the Pecci Center in Prato.
This is the first Italian solo retrospective of British artist Mark Wallinger, one of the most important contemporary artists.

Visitors can trace the various stages of his career through his most significant works.

Beginning withEcce Homo (1999-2000), a depiction of a persecuted man tormented by a crown of thorns, and the first contemporary art sculpture to occupy the pedestal in London’s Trafalgar Square, it continues with Passport Control (1988), a series of enlargements of some of his passport photographs reworked with marker and corrector scribbles.
It continues with id Paintings (2015-2016), portraits that reference Mark Wallinger’s own body, and Self Portrait (2007-2015).

Other works featured include Shadow Walker (2011), Unconscious (2010), and Pietre Prato (2018), a work made especially for the exhibition. Hand-numbered stones representing the contrast between man’s work and the time scale of geology.

As a traveling exhibition, Mark Wallinger Mark has already been hosted at Serlachius Museum in Mänttä, Finland (2016), The Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh, and Dundee Contemporary Arts in Dundee, Scotland (2017).
