From now until September 26, the exhibition “The Timeless Dance. Beyond the Mountains” where it is possible to admire the 99 works of Mao Jianhua (Changsu, 1955), a contemporary Chinese painter who often signed his works under the pseudonyms of “Jizushanren” (man of Jizu, the mountain where Mao regularly goes for meditation) or “Zhuoweng” (man who follows his own primordial nature, putting aside superstructures and artificial elements, returning to childhood and nature).
The works on display, all executed with brush and ink on cotton paper, depict outdoor spaces that Mao used to go to and that he wanted to depict in a dimension that lies somewhere between tradition and modernity in China without these two forces opposing each other, all in the style of painting called Shan Shui that dates back as far as 1,500 years.
The exhibition, with free admission, is held at the Complesso del Vittoriano - Ala Brasini in Rome with the support of theInstitute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento, the Lazio Region and Roma Capitale.
The exhibition is open Monday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
