From April 20 to September 30, 2019, Palazzo Sturm in Bassano del Grappa will host the exhibition Albrecht Dürer. The Complete Remondini Collection: for the first time, the complete collection of graphic works by the famous Nuremberg artist that are part of Bassano’s museum holdings will be presented to the public. The collection is one of the two most complete and important in the world: it includes 123 woodcuts and 91 intaglio prints that belonged to Giambattista Remondini and were donated to the city in 1849.
The exhibition aims to be the most important one on this corpus of Albrecht Dürer’s graphic works: a major exhibition on the occasion of which the results of the restoration work at Palazzo Sturm will be presented. It was decided to set up the exhibition in the spaces of the famous palace, home of the Remondini Print Museum. The City of Bassano del Grappa is thus celebrating the reopening of Palazzo Sturm, at the conclusion of the latest restoration campaign that has fully returned the magnificent jewel of architecture and art overlooking the Brenta and Bassano Bridge to visitors. A new exhibit designed to house the creations of Bassano’s family of entrepreneurs, printers and art collectors.
The exhibition is curated by Chiara Casarin.
