The Open Art Gallery in Prato will host from Nov. 18, 2017 to Jan. 27, 2018 the exhibition"Made in America. The Thousand Lights of New York."
Thirty works by artists, including Paul Jenkins, Sam Francis, James Brooks, Norman Bluhm, Fritz Bultman, John Ferren, John Grillo, Beverly Pepper, will introduce visitors to mid-century New York.
Here came artists fleeing European totalitarianism, here were born the action painters, devotees of the painterly gesture, and the color field painters, who favored wide backgrounds of color.
Martha Jackson opened her New York gallery in 1953, in which she collected works by artists we find in the exhibition, particularly those belonging toAbstract Expressionism.
The exhibition is curated by Mauro Stefanini.
