Macerata celebrates 100 years of the Bauhaus

In Macerata, a widespread exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus through historical documents and installations by forward-looking artists.

Bauhaus 100: Learning, Making, Thinking, this is the title of the exhibition in Macerata celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the German school that revolutionized design andarchitecture.

An exhibition spread across the civic museum venues of Palazzo Buonaccorsi, the Mozzi Borgetti Library and Palazzo Pellicani Silvestri, the former headquarters of the Bank of Italy, which aims to identify what is left of that revolutionary spirit and question the possibility of designing by putting ideas and not things at the center.

Until Nov. 3, 2019, historical documents from the precious Italo Rota collection dialogue with installations by artists who look to the future: some rooms are dedicated to Ivo Pannaggi, an artist from Macerata and a multifaceted innovator who attended the school of Walter Gropius, while installations by artists with their eyes turned to the future have been chosen by Maria Grazia Mattei of MEET, an international center for digital culture in Milan.

The exhibition is curated by Aldo Colonetti and is promoted by the Marche Region, the Municipality of Macerata, Macerata Musei and organized by Sistema Museo.
