Luciano Regoli's art presented in Pienza's Palazzo Salomone Piccolomini

Palazzo Salomone Piccolomini in Pienza presents the art of Luciano Regoli and his School of Elba.

From June 2-24, 2018, the exhibition"Luciano Regoli and the School of Elba" curated by Sara Mammana and Roggero Roggeri will be on view in the halls of Palazzo Salomone Piccolomini in Pienza.

A remarkable number of paintings by Luciano Regoli, an artist whose mission was to counter the"Death of Figurative Painting," will be on display.

Portraits, religious scenes, still lifes, landscapes: works created as a result of constant and passionate study, taught to his students at his Elba School.

They, too, are the protagonists of this exhibition with a selection of their works. They include Alessandra Allori, Ronaldo Boner Jr, Marco De Sio, Gabriella Volpini and John Carlton Watkins.

The exhibition’s curators, within the accompanying catalog, wrote: “Fortunately, the death of Great Painting, denounced by Regoli, has not yet fully occurred, and one wonders what makes, even today, the classical pictorial tradition alive and relevant, and why there are still artists who, in an alternative way to the various forms of’contemporary art, passionately seek, in the harmony of forms and in the hard work of learning ancient techniques, the indispensable means of expression to generate a figurative art that is not obsolete but absolutely in step with the times.”

The exhibition is promoted by the Cultural Association “Biagiotti for Art” under the patronage of the City of Pienza and UNESCo.

Hours: Daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 6:30 p.m.

Free admission.
