An exhibition of Luca Pignatelli’s work (the title is precisely Luca Pignatelli) opens tomorrow in Carrara, at Palazzo Cucchiari, displaying several important works by one of the most considerable contemporary artists on the national and international scene. The Carrara exhibition, curated by critic Massimo Bertozzi and former Uffizi director Antonio Natali, comes after two exhibitions of the artist’s work were held at the Uffizi and the National Museum of Capodimonte in Naples. Thirty works will be on display at Palazzo Cucchiari, including a series of previously unseen works: the artist’s typical stylistic signature is, as always, the dialogue between the ancient and the contemporary.
“A cultured and curious artist,” Bertozzi writes in his critical text, “Luca knows how enigmatic the beauty of art is, and that at the end of any reflection, and from any point of view, we will always miss much of the original perception with which the art of the past was produced and seen.” A past recovered “within the framework of a painting that always seems to start again from the primitive disorder of forms.”
The exhibition, organized by the Giorgio Conti Foundation with the support of the RED Graniti Group, will remain open until June 18 with the following hours: until May 25, Tuesday through Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. From May 26 to June 18, Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 3 to 10 p.m. Full ticket €5, reduced €4 (for visitors under 18, over 65 and Touring members).
