The Luigi Pecci Center for Contemporary Art in Prato presents Satura, a solo exhibition by U.S. artist Louis Fratino (born 1993 in Annapolis, lives and works in New York City). Curated by Stefano Collicelli Cagol, the exhibition will be open to the public from Sept. 26, 2024 to Feb. 2, 2025, with the opening scheduled for Sept. 25, 2024.
Louis Fratino is an artist whose work spans painting, sculpture, ceramics, drawing and printmaking. His works depict characters moving between domestic settings and enchanting landscapes, suspended between melancholy and eroticism. Fratino draws inspiration from great artists such as Picasso and Matisse, but also from lesser-known figures of the Italian twentieth century.
The artist has strong ties to Italy, and in particular to the coasts of the Tyrrhenian Sea, from which he has often drawn inspiration for his works. The exhibition Satura, sponsored by the Pecci Center, presents a series of works that explore the unique relationship between Fratino, Tuscany and Italy. His works evoke the landscapes, coastlines and people that animate these places, creating intense and erotically charged atmospheres.
Louis Fratino is already well known in the international art scene: in fact, he is one of the most awarded young artists on the market, plus this year he also participated in the Venice Art Biennale. The exhibition at the Pecci Center, Fratino’s first institutional exhibition, is intended to be a new opportunity to deepen the knowledge of his artistic production.
