Lisetta Carmi's photographic work on display in Bibbiena

At CIFA in Bibbiena, an exhibition chronicles the career of contemporary photographer Lisetta Carmi. March 30 through June 2, 2019.

From March 30 to June 2, 2019, CIFA, Centro Italiano della Fotografia d’Autore in Bibbiena, will host the exhibition Lisetta Carmi - From Genoa to the Rest of the World.

The exhibition is dedicated to the photographic activity of Lisetta Carmi (Genoa, 1924), a renowned musician and contemporary photographer.

The retrospective will be divided into eleven themes: starting with an account of the port and transvestites of Genoa, moving on to Israel, Sardinia, Paris, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Ireland, India and Sicily. The photographer manages to dwell on a few significant details and summarize the atmosphere of a place in a few images. Included among these reportages are two portraits of the American poet Ezra Pound, whose deepest essence she was able to capture, accomplishing a masterpiece of psychological introspection that was awarded the "Niépce Prize for Italy" in 1966.
